Moscow, May 6 (LaPresse) – Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Kremlin reported that the two discussed the situation in the Middle East.

"Various aspects of the situation in the Middle East region and current issues of bilateral relations were discussed during the conversation," the Kremlin stated, adding that the two leaders exchanged congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism and emphasized the commitment of both Russia and Israel to uphold the truth about the events of World War II.

During their conversation, it was noted that the memory of war heroes "is sacred both in Russia and in Israel, where May 9 is also a national holiday."
