Germany: Merz fails to secure majority in the Bundestag to become chancellor

Berlin (Germany), May 6 (LaPresse) – CDU leader Friedrich Merz did not obtain the required majority in the Bundestag during the first round to be elected chancellor.
A total of 316 votes are needed for election. In the first round, Merz received 310 votes in favor and 307 against. There were three abstentions.
