United Kingdom, Harry loses appeal against removal of security detail

Milan, May 2 (LaPresse) – Prince Harry has lost the appeal he filed against the British government's decision to strip him of publicly funded security after stepping down from royal duties and moving to the United States with his wife Meghan Markle. The Court of Appeal unanimously ruled that Harry was not treated unfairly when it was decided that his security would be reviewed on a case-by-case basis whenever he visits the UK. The ruling could leave the Duke of Sussex with a hefty legal bill to pay the British government, in addition to his own legal fees. It is still unclear whether Harry intends to file a further appeal with the UK Supreme Court. The judgment confirmed last year’s High Court decision, which found that the “tailored” security plan for the Duke of Sussex was not unlawful, irrational, or unjustified.
