Port-au-Prince (Haiti), 30 Apr (LaPresse/AP) – More than 1,600 people – including 35 children – were killed and another 850 injured between January and March in Haiti, which is suffering from increasingly frequent attacks by criminal gangs. This is according to a UN report, according to which most of the deaths and injuries occurred in the capital Port-au-Prince, 85% of which is controlled by gangs. The latter are considered responsible for 35% of the killings and injuries, while 56% are the result of police operations and executions. The rest was attributed to vigilante action. In the same period at least 161 people were kidnapped, 63% of them in Artibonite, according to the report.
