Ukraine, Rubio will not attend London summit

Washington (USA), 23 April (LaPresse) – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not attend Wednesday's ceasefire talks in London. The announcement was made by State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce during a press briefing. Although the official cited logistical reasons for the Secretary of State's decision, Rubio's decision appears to follow statements by Volodymyr Zelensky, who on Tuesday said he was open to negotiations with Moscow once the ceasefire came into effect, but that he would not accept agreements that would enshrine Russian control over Crimea. ‘Ukraine will not legally recognise the occupation of Crimea,’ the Ukrainian president said at a press conference. “There is nothing to talk about here. This is against our Constitution,” he added. The State Department said that the US envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, will attend the London meeting, but it is unclear whether the special envoy for Russia, Steve Witkoff, who is due to travel to Moscow this week, will also attend.
