USA: Harvard sues Trump administration against resource cuts

Boston (USA), 22 Apr (LaPresse) – Harvard University announced today it is suing the Trump administration to block a freeze on more than $2.2 billion in grants, after the institution said it would disobey the tycoon-led government's demands to limit activism on campus. ‘The government cannot recognise any rational connection between concerns about anti-Semitism and concerns about medical, scientific, technological and other research’ so much as to freeze “efforts to save American lives, promote American success, preserve American security, and maintain America's position as a world leader in innovation,” the university wrote in the lawsuit. ‘Nor has the government recognised the significant consequences that the indefinite freeze of billions of dollars in federal research funding will have on Harvard's research programmes, the beneficiaries of that research, and the national interest in promoting American innovation and progress,’ it added.
