Pope, Biden: ‘I am a better person after meeting him’

Milan, 21 Apr (LaPresse) – ‘It is with great sadness that Jill and I have learned of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. He was different from all those who came before him. Pope Francis will be remembered as one of the most influential leaders of our time and I am a better person for having known him.’ Former US President Joe Biden wrote in a post on Social X. ‘For decades he served the most vulnerable in Argentina and his mission to serve the poor has never ceased,’ he added, ’as Pope, he was a loving pastor and an inspiring teacher who was able to bring people of different faiths together. He urged us to fight for peace and to protect our planet from the climate crisis. He has defended the voiceless and the powerless. He has made everyone feel welcome and valued by the Church. He has promoted fairness and an end to poverty and suffering around the world. Above all, he was a Pope for all. He was the people's Pope, a light of faith, hope and love'.
