Rome, Apr 19 (LaPresse/AP) – Today in Rome the second round of negotiations on Tehran's fast-moving nuclear programme. The talks in Italy over the Easter weekend feature Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump's US envoy to the Middle East, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The talks follow an initial round held in Muscat, Oman, where the two sides met face-to-face. Trump has imposed new sanctions on Iran. And he repeatedly suggested that military action against Iran remained a possibility, while stressing that he still believed a new agreement could be reached by writing a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to kick off the talks. Khamenei warned that Iran would respond to any attack with an attack of its own.
