Brussels, April 14 (LaPresse) – The Russian attack in Sumy "is proof, if any was needed, of Vladimir Putin's contempt for the civilian population and for the laws of war," and "although Ukraine accepted a ceasefire over a month ago, Vladimir Putin clearly has no intention of moving in that direction. It is therefore necessary to force him to do so, and that is why I call on the European Union to impose the heaviest sanctions on Russia to strangle its economy and prevent it from fueling its war effort. And I believe the United States, which has invested a lot of time and energy to achieve a ceasefire, with President Trump dedicating much time and effort, can also, through immediate sanctions, force Vladimir Putin to sit at the negotiation table," said French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot upon his arrival at the Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg.
