Rome, April 14 (LaPresse) – Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin capsule has returned to Earth after launching his fiancée Lauren Sanchez into space along with an all-female celebrity crew, including singer Katy Perry and journalist Gayle King. A sonic boom marked the return of the reusable booster to Earth. The rocket performed a perfect vertical landing in the Texas desert. The New Shepard capsule’s parachutes deployed successfully, and the spacecraft could be seen descending from the sky.
"Congratulations and welcome back to Earth," mission control radioed to the crew.
The capsule reached an altitude of 105 kilometers in space, allowing for several minutes of weightlessness. Also on board were film producer Kerianne Flynn, former NASA engineer Aisha Bowe—who founded her own company to promote science education—and Amanda Nguyen, a scientist who studied planets and now advocates for survivors of sexual violence.
