Spain, Juan Carlos files lawsuit against former lover Corinna Larsen

Madrid (Spain), April 9 (LaPresse) – The emeritus King of Spain, Juan Carlos I, has decided to file a lawsuit against his former lover Corinna Larsen in Switzerland, aiming to restore his "right to honor." The news was reported by several Spanish media outlets, including Abc and El Mundo. According to Abc, the father of King Felipe VI will seek to reach a settlement with Larsen through an initial act of conciliation, in which he will ask her to retract all the public accusations she has made against him over the years. The emeritus king will also demand financial compensation. If no agreement is reached following the act of conciliation, Juan Carlos will decide whether or not to proceed with legal action. Abc highlights that people close to Juan Carlos had advised him against reopening a legal battle with Larsen, but the emeritus king appears determined, believing that his image has been seriously damaged and that his historical legacy is not being properly recognized. Abc recalls that the relationship between Juan Carlos and Larsen has been nonexistent since she filed a lawsuit against the emeritus king in the United Kingdom in 2022, accusing him of orchestrating a harassment and intimidation campaign after she refused to return a €65 million donation from Saudi Arabia. British courts ruled in October 2023 that Juan Carlos could not be tried in the UK.
