Bangkok (Thailand), 3 Apr. (LaPresse/AP) – The death toll from the earthquake that struck Myanmar almost a week ago has risen to 3,145, as search and rescue teams have found more bodies. This was announced by the military-led government. The Minister of Information, Maung Maung Ohn, also announced at a meeting in the capital, Naypyitaw, that 4,589 people were injured, while another 221 are still missing. A report published today by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs estimated that the earthquake and its aftershocks affected more than 17 million people in 57 of the country's 330 townships, including more than 9 million severely affected people. The World Health Organisation reported that, according to its initial assessment, four hospitals and one health centre were completely destroyed, while another 32 hospitals and 18 health centres were partially damaged.
