Bangkok (Thailand), 2 Apr. (LaPresse/AP) – The ruling military junta in Myanmar has declared a temporary ceasefire until 22 April in the country's civil war, to facilitate post-earthquake relief efforts. This was announced by the state TV, with a declaration from the high military command. The announcement follows the unilateral temporary ceasefires announced by the armed resistance groups that oppose the military government. The television reported that the armed ethnic groups and local militias must refrain from attacking the state security forces and military bases, and must not organise themselves, gather strength or expand the territory under their control. If the groups do not abide by these conditions, the army will take the necessary measures, warned the junta's communiqué.
