Rome, 1 Apr. (LaPresse) – The Israeli Minister of Defence, Israel Katz, and the Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, have visited the West Bank, reaffirming their commitment to Jewish settlements in the area. ‘We will not abandon the security of the settlers nor allow Abbas and the Palestinian National Authority to use illegal construction as a tool to create a strategic threat against the settlements’, they stated in a joint declaration reported by the Times of Israel. ‘The West Bank is the heart of Israel and we will protect it with all necessary means,’ said Katz. “Settlers are not second-class citizens, they deserve the same security as all Israelis. Judea and Samaria are our ancestral homeland and we are here to stay,” added Smotrich.
