Rome, 31 Mar. (LaPresse) – The Paris court has found Marine Le Pen and 8 other MEPs guilty of misappropriation of public funds. The sentence – as explained by the French media – automatically entails a penalty of ineligibility for the leader of the Rassemblement National. The court has not yet announced whether the ineligibility will be with ‘provisional enforcement’ and therefore immediate. Le Pen and other party officials were accused of using money intended for parliamentary assistants of the European Union to pay party staff instead.
