Rome, March 28 (LaPresse) – Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that he had a "very constructive" conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the relationship between the two countries. According to Ottawa, the two leaders "agreed to initiate comprehensive negotiations on a new economic and security relationship immediately after the elections." In the meantime, Carney confirmed that his government "will implement retaliatory tariffs to protect Canadian workers and our economy, following the announcement of further U.S. trade actions on April 2, 2025."
