Rome, March 17 (LaPresse) – The Houthis have announced that they launched an attack on Sunday with 18 ballistic and cruise missiles, along with drones, against the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier and the warships accompanying it, in the northern Red Sea. Houthi military spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, stated that the attack was a response to more than 47 U.S. airstrikes, ordered by President Donald Trump, on areas controlled by the rebels in Yemen, including the capital Sanaa and the province of Saada, near the Saudi Arabian border. Both Washington and the Houthis have raised alarms: further escalation could occur after the U.S. airstrikes aimed at deterring rebels from attacking military and commercial ships in one of the world’s busiest trade routes. "The Yemeni armed forces will not hesitate to strike all U.S. warships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea as retaliation for the aggression against our country," Saree said.
