Rome, March 15 (LaPresse) – U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he had ordered the U.S. armed forces "to launch a decisive and powerful military action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen," who "have carried out an unrelenting campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism against American and other nations' ships, aircraft, and drones." Trump described Biden’s response as "pathetically weak" against the "thugs" who, "funded by Iran," have "fired missiles at U.S. aircraft and targeted our troops and allies." "These relentless assaults," Trump continued, "have cost the U.S. and global economy billions of dollars while also endangering innocent lives." "The Houthi attack on American ships will not be tolerated. We will use overwhelming lethal force until we achieve our objective. The Houthis have blocked navigation in one of the world’s most important waterways, paralyzing vast areas of global trade and attacking the fundamental principle of freedom of navigation, which is essential for commerce and international trade," he stated. "Our brave soldiers are currently conducting airstrikes against the terrorists’ bases, leaders, and missile defenses to protect American naval, air, and maritime assets and to restore freedom of navigation. No terrorist force will prevent American commercial and military ships from freely sailing the world’s waterways," Trump concluded.
