Bangkok, 15 Mar. (LaPresse/Ap) – A motorway bridge under construction in the Thai capital Bangkok has collapsed, killing at least five people. They are four workers and one engineer. No road users were involved because the traffic lanes near the construction site were closed at the time. Officials stated that the collapse, which occurred in the early hours of the morning in the south-western area of Bangkok, caused the injury of another 24 people who were on the construction site, as confirmed by the Minister of Transport Suriya Jungrungreangkit. The commander of the Bangkok police, Siam Boonsom, declared that the authorities are still investigating to determine the causes of the collapse and that they will take legal action against those responsible.
