Milan, 12th Mar. (LaPresse) – ‘The current situation is that the Ukrainians have accepted a ceasefire, the Ukrainians have accepted the peace plan that was put on the table yesterday in Saudi Arabia by the Secretary of State and by our National Security Advisor, with whom I just spoke before coming here’. This was said by White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt to reporters at the White House after an interview with Fox. Leavitt said that National Security Adviser Mike Waltz spoke with his Russian counterpart today and that Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Moscow this week to urge Russia to sign the plan. He described the state of the negotiations as ‘on the tenth line of the peace plan’ and said that now ‘it's up to the Russians to accept this plan’. But he refused to say whether President Donald Trump intended to call Russian President Vladimir Putin in an attempt to exert direct pressure to commit to the ceasefire.
