Ukraine, Vance: "Zelensky will eventually accept peace talks with Russia"

Rome, March 4 (LaPresse) – "What President Trump has clearly and consistently stated is that the door is open as long as Zelensky is willing to seriously discuss peace." This was said by U.S. Vice President JD Vance in an interview with Fox News, stating that Zelensky has shown "clear reluctance to engage in the peace process," a policy that, according to Trump, reflects the will of the American people. U.S. Vice President JD Vance expressed confidence that the Ukrainian leader will "eventually" agree to discuss peace with Russia, following last week's Oval Office confrontation with Donald Trump. "You can’t come to the Oval Office or any other place and refuse to even discuss the details of a peace agreement," he said. "This will make no one happy. The Russians will have to give up something, the Ukrainians will have to give up something. You can’t come to the Oval Office and say 'give us security guarantees, we won’t even engage with you on what we are willing to give up.' That was the Ukrainian position," Vance added. "Hope is not a strategy. Throwing money and ammunition into a terrible conflict, this is not a strategy," the Vice President emphasized regarding the Biden administration's policy on Ukraine. Vance reiterated that President Trump will be "the first person to answer the phone" as soon as Zelensky is ready to talk peace. "In reality, the president is taking a much more realistic perspective when he says that this situation can't go on forever, we can't fund this forever, the Ukrainians can't fight forever, so let's try to reach a peaceful solution."
