Milan, February 23 (LaPresse) – The IDF confirms it has deployed tanks in the West Bank to expand its ongoing counter-terrorism operation in the Jenin area. The Times of Israel reports that "this is the first time since Operation Defensive Shield in 2002 that IDF tanks have operated in the West Bank." Troops from the Nahal Infantry Brigade and the Duvdevan Command Unit began operations in several villages near Jenin this morning, according to the army. At the same time, a platoon from the 188th Armored Brigade is preparing to operate in Jenin. Palestinian media have released images showing three tanks in the area.
