These were the words of CDU leader and chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz, commenting on the first exit poll results of the federal elections, which show CDU-CSU leading with 29%. "I am aware of the responsibility and the magnitude of the task ahead. I know it will not be easy. We fought a very tough election campaign. The goal now is to form a government capable of acting as quickly as possible," Merz added.
