AI, China to Vance: ‘No to politicising technologies’

Milan, Feb 12 (LaPresse) – China opposes drawing ideological lines, generalising the concept of national security and the politicisation of economic and technological issues. This was said by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun in response to a question about US Vice President JD Vance's speech at the Paris AI summit, in which he spoke of ‘authoritarian’ regimes using AI for their programmes. The Global Times reports. The spokesman said that China actively promotes the inclusive development of AI, assists developing countries in strengthening their capabilities, supports open-source AI technology and improves the accessibility of AI services. Beijing, Guo continued, has repeatedly emphasised its commitment to embrace intelligent transformation, vigorously promote AI innovation, enhance AI security, and support enterprises in independent innovation.
