Brussels, 11 February (LaPresse) – The International Criminal Court ‘must be able to continue its fight against global impunity, it must be free from external interference and its independence must be defended to the death and at all times. In the face of US sanctions, the Union is aware of the urgency to support the ICC financially but also diplomatically. We will continue to use all the instruments at our disposal to protect the Cpi'. This was said by the European Commissioner for Justice, Michael McGrath, during the debate on the protection of the international justice system and its institutions, in particular the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, at the plenary session in Strasbourg.
