Rome, Jan. 24 (LaPresse) – Russia remains open to negotiations on Ukraine, including with the United States, but Kiev is creating hurdles in this regard. Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted this in a conversation with journalist Pavel Zarubin after his visit to Moscow State University, as reported by Tass.

"We have always said, and I want to emphasize this once again, that we are ready for negotiations on Ukrainian issues," commented Putin regarding U.S. President Donald Trump's stated intention to initiate discussions on Ukraine with the Russian Federation. "However, there are issues that require particular attention. For example, as you know, the current head of the Kiev regime, when he was still a somewhat legitimate head of state, issued a decree prohibiting negotiations."

Ukraine’s response was swift: "Putin is trying to push the idea of negotiations with the United States. But he has one condition: he wants to decide Europe’s fate—without Europe. And he wants to talk about Ukraine—without Ukraine. This will not happen. Putin has long needed to return to reality. That’s not how the world works today," wrote Andriy Yermak, head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on Telegram.
