Washington (USA), Jan. 16 (LaPresse) – Rudy Giuliani has reached a settlement with two Georgia election workers he defamed in connection with their efforts to collect the $150 million awarded as damages in a previous defamation trial. CNN reports this, citing court documents filed today.
Giuliani was facing a new trial and the potential loss of his Florida condominium, which he claims as his primary residence, as well as various memorabilia, including New York Yankees World Series rings. The former New York City mayor was in a legal battle with Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, mother and daughter, over whether his $3.5 million Florida condo was his main residence and could be exempted from the claims made by the two women.
Freeman and Moss had already been awarded several of Giuliani’s valuable assets by the court, including his $6 million Manhattan apartment, a dozen luxury watches, furniture, and baseball memorabilia. Over the past few months, the two women have struggled to collect some of these assets despite multiple court orders requiring Giuliani to surrender them.
Giuliani, who was Donald Trump’s personal attorney at the time, was found guilty of defaming the two women by falsely accusing them of contributing to alleged electoral fraud during the 2020 Georgia elections. In recent days, federal judges have twice found Giuliani in contempt of court.
