Washington, Jan. 15 (LaPresse) – "My diplomacy has never stopped in its efforts to achieve this outcome," and "I am thrilled that those who have been held hostage are now reuniting with their families," stated President Joe Biden in a statement, emphasizing that he "outlined the precise contours of this plan on May 31, 2024, after which it was unanimously approved by the United Nations Security Council."
The agreement, he added, "is the result not only of the extreme pressure Hamas has been subjected to and the shift in the regional equation after a ceasefire in Lebanon and the weakening of Iran, but also of persistent and meticulous American diplomacy."
