Milan, Dec. 31 (LaPresse) – A report published today by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has revealed that “a series of deadly Israeli attacks against and near hospitals in Gaza, as well as related fighting, have pushed the healthcare system to the brink of total collapse, with catastrophic effects on Palestinians’ access to health and medical care.”
This is stated in a declaration accompanying the report, which documents attacks between October 12, 2023, and June 30, 2024, raising serious concerns about Israel's compliance with international law.
“This report graphically describes the destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system and the extent of the killings of patients, staff, and other civilians in these attacks, in blatant disregard for international humanitarian law and human rights,” commented Volker Türk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
