Turin, 9 June (LaPresse) – Iran may not have any fans travelling with the team for its matches at the World Cup, which kicks off on Thursday in the US, Mexico and Canada. The Iranian Football Federation has stated that the United States has revoked the allocation of tickets for Team Melli’s group stage matches, accusing the host country of preventing Iranian fans from attending the stadium. “In an unexpected move, the allocation granted to the Iranian Football Federation has been revoked and, under the current circumstances, the federation is unable to provide even a single ticket to the national team’s supporters,” reads a statement from the FFIRI, the Iranian Football Federation, which described the decision as “contrary to the spirit governing international competitions and the principle of equality among participating nations”.
