Giro d'Italia: Vingegaard dominates Stage 16 as well, consolidating his lead in the pink jersey. Eulalio takes the Conad white jersey

Milan, 26 May (LaPresse) – Jonas Vingegaard is increasingly dominating the Giro d'Italia. The Danish champion, holder of the pink jersey, also won the 16th stage by a clear margin, a 113 km route entirely on Swiss territory from Bellinzona to Carì. On the final 11.6 km climb, with an average gradient of 8%, Vingegaard broke away from the pack 6 km from the finish, crossing the line alone with his arms raised. This is the Dane’s fourth victory in this edition of the Giro, and he now has his sights set on Tadej Pogacar, who won six stages in the 2024 Giro. Second was the Austrian Felix Gall of Decathlon, 1’18” behind, who beat the Australian Jai Hindley of the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe team in a tight sprint. The Conad white jersey, formerly the pink jersey, the Portuguese rider Afonso Eulalio, finished around 3' behind, whilst the Italian Giulio Pellizzari of Bora collapsed on the final climb.
