Roland Garros: Paolini wins her opening match, Yastremska defeated in two sets

Milan, 25 May (LaPresse) – A good start for Jasmine Paolini at Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam event of the season. The Tuscan tennis player, who has slipped to No. 13 in the WTA rankings, opened her campaign on the Simonne Mathieu court by beating Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska, ranked No. 45 in the WTA, in two sets, 7-5, 6-3. Paolini is competing in her eighth Roland Garros; she was a finalist here in 2024 (defeated by Swiatek in the final). In the second round, the Italian will face Argentina’s Solana Sierra, ranked 68th in the WTA, who caused an upset by beating Emma Raducanu and thus progressed past the first round at Roland Garros for the first time.
