Rome, 24 May (LaPresse) – Former defender for Cagliari, Bologna, SPAL, Bari and Sampdoria, Marios Oikonomou, has been involved in a serious motorbike accident. According to Greek media reports, the former footballer is in intensive care after colliding with a car in Ioannina (Greece), his hometown. The police have issued a statement asking any witnesses to come forward to help piece together the exact circumstances of the accident. AEK Athens, where Oikonomou played from 2018 to 2020, issued a statement expressing their support for the former player and his family, “in the hope that he may emerge victorious from the toughest battle of his life”.
