Rome, 23 May (LaPresse) – “A review of the season? We’re focused on tomorrow’s match. We know it’s a milestone we’ve been missing out on for years. It’s down to us; we’ll take stock of the season from tomorrow, after the match. What matters most today is our focus on the match.” So said Gian Piero Gasperini, Roma’s manager, ahead of tomorrow’s match against Verona. “It hasn’t been an easy year,” explained Gasperini. “I’ve certainly tried to bring my own way of working, which has allowed me to build my career over so many years. First and foremost, I’ve been lucky enough to find lads who’ve allowed me to be credible in their eyes. The right chemistry is the secret behind the 70 points we’ve secured so far. We’ve identified shared goals to work towards day by day. Almost 11 months have passed – that’s a very long time. Now the priority is to achieve a result that, at times, even we didn’t think was possible. Football is cruel in that respect; you really put everything on the line in 90 minutes.”
