Rome, 20 May (LaPresse) – In the NBA Eastern Conference Final, the New York Knicks staged a historic comeback in Game 1, overturning a 22-point deficit with eight minutes remaining to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 115–104 in overtime at Madison Square Garden. This is the biggest comeback in a Conference final since 1997 in terms of the final quarter, with a 44-11 run in the last 7 minutes and 52 seconds. Jalen Brunson was the star of the show, scoring 38 points. The entire starting five scored in double figures, with Karl-Anthony Towns recording a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. For the Cavaliers, Donovan Mitchell scored 29 points, with Evan Mobley adding 15 points and 14 rebounds.
