International: Sinner through to the final against Ruud; Medvedev knocked out in the third set

Rome, 16 May (LaPresse) – Jannik Sinner has reached the final of the Internazionali di Roma for the second year running. The world number one, in his match against Russia’s Daniil Medvedev – which was suspended yesterday due to rain with the South Tyrolean leading 4-2 in the third set – won the decisive set 6-4. In the seventh game, the Russian, who was serving for the set, immediately fired an ace to take the score to 4-3, but Sinner fought back, holding his serve to love. At 5-3, he created two match points, which Zverev saved with great composure. On his own serve, the Italian did not miss his chance and closed out the match on his third match point. In the final, he will face Norway’s Casper Ruud, who yesterday beat Luciano Darderi in two sets.
