Cosenza, 13 May (LaPresse) – It’s the day of the Praia a Mare–Potenza stage at the Giro d'Italia: the fifth stage, covering 203 km, from Calabria to Basilicata. The Pink Jersey holder, Giulio Ciccone, will attempt to defend his lead in the general classification on a stage where the peloton will face the toughest climb of the Giro so far: the Montagna Grande di Viggiano, a 6.6 km ascent with a maximum gradient of around 15%. All eyes are on the moves to be made by Jonas Vingegaard and Giulio Pellizzari, who is 6‘ behind Ciccone but could also attempt to claim the Conad White Jersey. The classification for the best young rider is currently led by Jan Christen, but Pellizzari is hot on the heels of the Swiss rider, who is just 2’ ahead.
