Italian Open: Berrettini on Sinner’s path, Auger-Aliassime into the semifinals

Milan, May 4 (LaPresse) – The draw has also been made for the men’s Italian Open tennis tournament, an ATP Masters 1000 event scheduled on the clay courts of the Foro Italico. For Italy’s Jannik Sinner, the number 1 seed and last year’s finalist, debut in the second round against the winner of the match between Austrian Sebastian Ofner and American Alex Michelsen. In Sinner’s section of the draw also Matteo Berrettini (opening match against Australian Alexei Popyrin) and Lorenzo Sonego; the world number 1 could face Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, the number 4 seed, in the semifinals. On the other side of the draw, given the absence of Carlos Alcaraz, the potential semifinal will be between number 2 Alexander Zverev and number 3 Novak Djokovic, with the Serbian returning to the Foro Italico after last year’s withdrawal.
