Inter, Marotta: "It is a Scudetto of managerial continuity, Chivu the right choice"

Milan, May 4 (LaPresse) – "All in all, Inter has changed little, we have given space to the continuity of a model that we have been carrying forward for some years. I would like to underline that this management team, with Ausilio and Baccin, has won three Scudetti with three coaches and two different ownerships," said Inter president Beppe Marotta, speaking to Radio Anch’Io Sport on Radio1 the day after winning the Scudetto. "With Fabregas there was only a preliminary agreement, as with Chivu. Our choice fell on Cristian because he had the characteristics we were looking for, while on the other side there were objective obstacles," Marotta stated, after winning his eleventh Scudetto, the first as president. "The Coppa Italia? Inter is a club that always enters competitions to win. It would be nice to win this competition as well to earn the star for 10 Coppa Italia titles. It is an important and fascinating appointment that we will try to honour in the best possible way," Marotta added. "We never had doubts about Chivu, it is not in my culture to dismiss coaches whom I consider leaders of the group, and often they are blamed for things they are not responsible for. The poor start with some defeats did not correspond to poor performances, and this spoke positively in favour of Chivu’s work. So we continued confident in a strong team and a club that supported him," the Inter president continued. "Chivu has important human values, sometimes he still considers himself a player. We are dealing with a different profile, he is very good at training the mind. He has stepped into the role of the modern coach and his intelligence is one of his winning traits."
