WTA Madrid: Grant joins Paolini and Cocciaretto in the draw

Milan, 21 April (LaPresse) – Tyra Grant has secured her place in the main draw of the WTA 1000 in Madrid. The 18-year-old from Rome, ranked 262nd, entered the draw via a wild card. After defeating Slovenia’s Veronika Erjavec, ranked 96th in the WTA and the 15th seed in the qualifiers, in a hard-fought two-set opener, she staged a comeback in the decisive round to beat Hungary’s Panna Udvardy, ranked 78th in the WTA and the fourth seed, 0-6, 6-3, 6-2, after a battle lasting over two hours, against Hungary’s Panna Udvardy, ranked 78th in the WTA and the fourth seed.
