The Spaniard, world No. 2 and top seed, fresh from his defeat in the Monte Carlo final against Jannik Sinner, has qualified for the last 16 by beating Finland’s Otto Virtanen in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. In the next round, Alcaraz will face Czech player Tomas Machac, who defeated Argentine Sebastian Baez 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.
