Milan, 30 March (LaPresse) – Jannik Sinner is cementing his place in the history books, not just of Italian tennis, but of the sport worldwide. At the Miami Open presented by Itau, the world No. 2 defeated Jiri Lehecka (No. 22) in the final with a score of 6-4, 6-4, thus completing the ‘Sunshine Double’, i.e. the double victory in the Indian Wells and Miami Masters 1000 tournaments. Today’s final was interrupted by a break of over an hour due to rain during the first game of the second set. In the history of men’s tennis, Sinner is the eighth player to achieve this feat, but he is the first to do so without dropping a single set along the way. This statistic adds to another record mentioned in recent days: the Italian has now won 34 consecutive sets in Masters 1000 tournaments, starting with his flawless run on the indoor hard courts of Paris (November 2025). This is his second title in Miami and his seventh title in this category for the 2001-born player, who has now taken his career ATP title tally to 26.
