Premier League: over 75% of fans oppose VAR

Rome, 30 March (LaPresse) – Nearly 8,000 English football fans, just over half of whom attend more than 15 Premier League home matches per season, took part in a survey conducted by the Football Supporters’ Association to gauge attitudes towards the technology. The results show just how unpopular it has become: over 97% of respondents disagree with the statement that VAR makes watching football matches more enjoyable, whilst over 90% disagree that it has improved the experience of attending matches at the stadium. When asked if they were in favour of the use of VAR in football, 75.71% answered in the negative, and over 70% disagree that it has improved the overall accuracy of refereeing decisions.
