Suzuka (Japan), Mar 29 (LaPresse) – Kimi Antonelli doubles up. After his first career triumph in China, the Bolognese Mercedes driver also wins the Japanese GP, the third round of the World Championship. A victory that counts double as it propels him to the top of the drivers’ standings. The nineteen-year-old finished ahead of Oscar Piastri’s McLaren, which has returned to competitiveness, and Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari, third ahead of the other Mercedes of George Russell and the other McLaren of Lando Norris. Lewis Hamilton’s other Ferrari was sixth. The turning point of the race came on lap 23 with the safety car deployment following the accident of Olivier Bearman (Haas), which allowed Antonelli to leap into the lead. Russell and Piastri had just made their pit stops, and under the Safety Car, pit times are halved. This allowed Antonelli to gain two positions, take the lead, and bring his Mercedes to the finish line first.
