Cycling: Tirreno-Adriatico, first stage and leader's jersey for Ganna

Milan, 9 March (LaPresse) – Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) won the first stage of the Tirreno Adriatico Crédit Agricole, the 11.5 km Lido di Camaiore-Lido di Camaiore Tudor ITT time trial. Thymen Arensman (Ineos Grenadiers) and Max Walscheid (Lidl-Trek) recorded the second and third fastest times at the finish line, +0.22‘ and +0.26’ respectively. Thanks to this result, Ganna wears the first Maglia Azzurra as leader of the General Classification. A few seconds after crossing the finish line, stage winner and first Maglia Azzurra Ganna said: "I'm really happy. Yesterday I said I didn't want to push too hard, but I'm in good shape and my legs are working well. Even though I didn't feel great on the bike. My teammates Thymen Arensman and Magnus Sheffield put in an extraordinary performance, we are all doing really well. I hope we will have the same good weather conditions in the coming days. I don't want to lose the leader's jersey, so I will fight to defend it."
