Serie A: Genoa thrash Torino 3-0 in early kick-off, drawing level with the Granata

Milan, Feb. 22 (LaPresse) – An impressive Genoa CFC thrashed Torino FC 3-0 in the early kick-off of the 26th round of Serie A. An important win in the relegation battle for Daniele De Rossi’s side, who move level with the Granata on 27 points. Genoa were aggressive and fired up from the outset, taking the lead in the 21st minute through Norton-Cuffy after Paleari parried Ekuban’s initial effort. The second goal came in the 40th minute, with Ekuban himself slotting home after the Torino goalkeeper’s save following a surging run by Baldanzi. Just before half-time, Torino were reduced to ten men after a straight red card for Ilkhan. In the second half, the Granata bravely tried to get back into the game with a couple of efforts from Vlasic and Zapata, but Genoa’s defense held firm. The hosts remained dangerous through the unstoppable Baldanzi and sealed the match in the 83rd minute with Junior Messias making it 3-0.
