Rome, 18 February (LaPresse) – UEFA has appointed an ethics and disciplinary inspector to investigate allegations of discriminatory behaviour during the Champions League play-off match between Benfica and Real Madrid, played on 17 February 2026. Further information will be made available in due course. This was announced by UEFA. The match was suspended for 10 minutes after Vinicius reported racist insults on the pitch by Argentine Prestianni, who denies everything. The case also made waves on social media with many reactions, including those from Mbappé, Mourinho and the Portuguese club, as well as solidarity from Ferrari driver Hamilton.
