Bormio (Sondrio), 16 February (LaPresse) – "I wasn't on form for the entire Olympic Games, we have to accept that. I didn't perform well enough. It was a course where we knew there was a bit of a risk to be there competing for a medal, and at the end of the day, I didn't ski as I should have, so my Olympic dream was shattered." This was the statement made in the mixed zone by Italian slalom skier Alex Vinatzer, who was eliminated in the slalom in Bormio, which concludes the men's alpine skiing programme. "It's fair to say that I didn't perform at my best, perhaps at times in the giant slalom, which is my discipline and where I feel a little more comfortable, but not in the slalom. These days have always been a little nerve-wracking. I couldn't feel like myself, I had a lot of weight on my shoulders. Unfortunately, it was a little too much for me. I was one of the losers of these Games. In summary, I can only be grateful to the federation, sponsors, relatives, parents and friends for supporting me and allowing me to do what I love. I couldn't have chosen a better life. What mark would I give myself for these Games? Unsatisfactory, without ifs or buts," he continued.
