The Italian, ranked 22nd in the world, defeated Argentina's Sebastian Baez (ATP No. 34) in the semi-finals on his 24th birthday with a score of 7-6 (7-2), 6-1. In the final, Darderi will face fellow Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, the number 1 seed, who defeated his compatriot Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-3, 7-5. It will be their fifth head-to-head match, all on clay: the score so far is 2-2.
