Bormio, Feb. 14 (LaPresse) – On the Stelvio course in Bormio, history was made. Lucas Pinheiro Braathen won gold in the giant slalom, giving his country its very first medal at the Winter Games. The athlete, who competed for Norway until two years ago, finished 0.95 seconds ahead of Swiss Marco Odermatt, who once again missed out on the top podium at these Games. Third place went to the other Swiss, Loic Meillard. Italian Alex Vinatzer fell in the second run after placing eleventh in the first. Giovanni Franzoni finished 24th.
